4. DJ Steward – No. 64

There are a lot of players who are pretty quiet about their recruitments. One of the Illini targets who hasn’t released much about the teams he is thinking about is DJ Steward.

Steward is a 6-foot-2, 165-pound shooting guard from Whitney Young High School in Chicago, Illinois. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is now the No. 64 player in the class of 2020. This is actually a five-spot drop from his previous No. 59 ranking.

The upcoming campaign for Steward will be his first with Whitney Young. He transferred there this summer from Fenwick High School. This was a move that opened up some eyes. But, this could also be great for his notoriety as well.

Like previously mentioned, Steward’s recruitment has been quiet. Illinois was actually the first scholarship offer to Steward. They offered him back on August 3, 2017. Since then, he has received offers from teams like Florida, Northwestern and Marquette, among others.

I have said this before; the class of 2020 is going to be guard-heavy. Steward is another line in the water for Brad Underwood and the coaching staff. I love Steward’s ability and want him suiting up for the Illini come 2020.
