The class of 2019 recruiting cycle is about to hit its climax as some of biggest Illini targets are setting up in-home visits, official visits and cutting lists down.

Drew Timme is in the mix with all of the best recruits in the nation who are making moves on the recruiting front. He has been recruited by just about every program in the nation but is coming down to a decision very soon.

Timme is a 6-foot-10, 215-pound power forward from Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas. He is rated as a five-star recruit who is the No. 29 player in the class of 2019, according to the new Rivals rankings.

The last big news to come out of the Timme camp was his cut-down to just 10 teams. He included Texas Tech, Gonzaga, Louisville, Texas A&M, Purdue, Arizona, Alabama, Oklahoma, Michigan State and Illinois on this list.

Things are starting to come together in regards to Timme’s recruitment, though. According to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, Timme has an in-home visit with Michigan State on Thursday. He is also going to meet with both Louisville and Illinois in the new couple days too.

Hopefully, this is good news for the Illini. They are close to landing some big fish, and I want Timme in the Orange and Blue. He has a skill set that is absolutely deadly in the college game. His ability to play in the paint is solid, but he can also step out and shoot from anywhere on the court. This is what makes him dangerous. He is also a really good athlete as well.

Big things are happening in the recruiting world, and Illinois is involved. They are in the talks for Timme, along with players like EJ Liddell, Terrence Shannon, Oscar Tshiebwe and Kofi Cockburn. Brad Underwood has to land a few of these talented top 100 players.

I have said it before; the class of 2019 is going to likely determine the future of this program and of Underwood. He is so close to landing a legendary class. Can he get us back to the promise land? I believe so, but we will see.
