The Illinois basketball team had a handful of talented recruits don the top 100 of the new Rivals.com rankings that were released on Tuesday.

Every recruiting site is different, so when one site comes out with new rankings, it is interesting to see what their opinion is on some of the top talent in the nation.  For example, if a player outside the top 10 commits to a blue blood, what is their movement like in the rankings?

It is also interesting to compare what one recruiting site thinks about a player compared to another recruiting site. In the latest Rivals rankings, I see a few players who are rated much higher than on the 247Sports list.

These rankings are pretty much just slightly more educated opinions about each player. Some of the player movement has to do with where they signed. Others have to do with how well they performed during AAU basketball. And some movement is just based on other players jumping ahead.

Recruiting rankings shouldn’t be taken too seriously. Nationally, it is hard to see every recruit, so there is no way you can rank every player where they should be ranked. But, Illinois does have six targets in the top 100.

Here are six Illini recruiting targets in the Rivals top 100.
