The Illinois basketball team needs to pick up the pace for the class of 2019.

Let’s be honest here, there have been quite a few players who Illinois had a solid chance with but bolted for other programs. The class of 2019 was supposed to be special with a certain group of players. But, plans change. There are still really talented players looming, and the Illini are right in the middle of a race for one of those players in Anthony Walker.

Walker is a 6-foot-8, 205-pound power forward from Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 146 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 5 player in the state of New Hampshire.

All five official visits are set up for Walker. His first official visit is to Illinois this week. He will then go to Pittsburgh September 15, Rhode Island September 22, Miami (FL) October 6 and VCU October 22. I see it as a good thing Illinois is the first to go for Walker. They get a chance to make a huge impact before he sees every other team.

There is no doubt that Illinois needs a player like Walker. He would be big for the program. That is why I laid out what the starting lineup would look like with him.
