It has been stated many times that the Illinois football class of 2019 is going to be special.

The top two players in this class – Isaiah Williams and Marquez Beason – are going to lead the way for this Illini group. They will both be special on opposite sides of the ball. Bryce Childress has a lot of talent at cornerback as well. He will team up with Beason to form a great secondary for the Illini.

Another player who is starting to get more love from the national recruiting media is wide receiver, Fabian McCray. He is a 6-foot-1, 177-pound wide receiver from Phillips Academy in Chicago, Illinois. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 975 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 114 wide receiver in the nation.

In a recent article by Josh Helmboldt of Rivals, he goes over some of the observations from early in the high school football season. Under the headline of prospects who answered questions, you can find McCray. Here is the excerpt from the article.

"Although it was in a losing effort, Illinois wide receiver commit Fabian McCray continued his impressive momentum from the offseason. He is still listed as an athlete prospect after there were questions early in his career whether he projected higher on offense or defense, but McCray has answered those questions succinctly. He is a polished pass catcher who should have the ability to put up big numbers from the outside receiver position at Illinois."

Helmboldt hits the nail right on the head. McCray is going to be a big-time wide receiver for the Illini once he enters the program in 2019. There aren’t a lot of locks at wide receiver for Illinois right now, so this gives McCray the chance to make an impact early.

Rivals actually has McCray at 6-foot-2, 180-pounds, which is bigger than his 247Sports profile. A wide receiver of his size is going to do some damage in the Big Ten. I am excited to see what he can bring to the team, especially with a quarterback like Williams coming in.

Once again, Lovie and the coaching staff continue to snag talented players for 2019, and McCray falls right in line with that narrative. The future is bright for this program.
