The Illinois football team joined the fun of making top lists last night as they were added to another one.

Ali Jennings ended up cutting his list down to just eight teams. He kept Michigan State, Georgia Tech, Temple, West Virginia, James Madison, Toledo, North Carolina and Illinois all involved in his recruitment as he decides where he wants to play his college ball.

This would be a nice pickup for the Illini. Jennings is a 6-foot-2, 186-pound wide receiver from Highland Springs High School in Highland Springs, Virginia. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 721 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 88 wide receiver in the nation.

Back on May 12, the Illini offered Jennings a scholarship. He is a player who they think could help the program. Since then, Jennings has been offered by a handful of other programs and even took a couple unofficial visits. As far as I can tell, he hasn’t been on an official visit yet.

247Sports has Jennings at 50-percent to James Madison and 50-percent to West Virginia. This would be an impressive pickup for James Madison considering they are an FCS program going up against a bunch of FBS teams. If they could pick him off, that would be a nice get.

Jennings has a nice list of scholarship offers and that means this kid has something special in him. The DI offers he has received are impressive. I do love his speed to get downfield. Jennings is a burner who could beat just about any defensive back he goes up against. That is why he would be great in the Illinois offense. They will have a quarterback who can sling the ball down the field.

There are other aspects of Jennings’ game that I like as well. He can go up and get the ball, which is important if the quarterback isn’t terribly accurate. This would be a great asset to have in any offense. He also has solid hands as well.

Illinois made the top eight for a nice player in Jennings. He could help this team moving forward, and I would love to have him in Orange and Blue. Let’s close the deal and continue building for the future.
