The Illinois basketball team added another scholarship offer to the list this past Sunday.

Chris Ledlum took to Twitter to announce that he has been offered a scholarship by the Illini. He is a 6-foot-7, 200-pound small forward from St. Peter High School in Staten Island, New York. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 136 player in the class of 2019 and is a wanted recruit by many programs across the nation.

Just this past weekend, Ledlum gained some big-time scholarship offers from D1 programs. The likes of Texas Tech, Notre Dame and Iowa joined Illinois in extending an offer. Ledlum might not be a top 100 player according to the rankings, but he is someone who would help a program.

Ledlum suited up for his AAU team, NY Jayhawks last week in the Adidas Summer Championships hosted by the Adidas Gauntlet. The Jayhawks finished the tournament with a 3-1 record, and Ledlum was one of the leaders on the team.

During the final game of the tournament, Ledlum dropped 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in just 30 minutes of action. He didn’t shoot great – 35.7-percent from the field and 25-percent from three-point land – but he was clearly one of the leaders on the team.

Ledlum is a very interesting player. He is unique. He has the moves and the bulldog mentality of a tough point guard. The ability to get into the lane, take a hit and still finish is impressive. But, he has great size as well. He can rise over the defenders thanks to his size and athletic ability. This helps him make more shots and finish at the rim.

The one thing that really stands out to me about Ledlum’s game is his aggressiveness. I always like an aggressive player because if his shot isn’t falling, he is still able to get to the hoop or at least get to the free throw line. That is important. He can help his team no matter what.

Illinois offering Ledlum is exciting. I want this type of player suiting up for the Orange and Blue. He would fit perfectly in Brad Underwood’s scheme as well. I would welcome the addition of Ledlum.
