No. 1 Guard

Starter: Trent Frazier

The starter at the No. 1 spot continues to stay the same. Trent Frazier is going to be bringing the ball up the court and setting up the offense.

Frazier had a tremendous freshman campaign where he ended up falling just short of the Big Ten Freshman of the Year honor. He ended up averaging 12.5 points, 3.1 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. This season shouldn’t be different. If anything, I wouldn’t be surprised if he actually improved on those stats now that he doesn’t have the pressure of scoring all the time.

Backup: Andres Feliz

One recruit who committed in the class of 2018 that no one is talking about is Andres Feliz. Illinois lost their backup No. 1 guard in Te’Jon Lucas after the season. They needed a suitable replacement and found that in Feliz. He is a junior college transfer who was the No. 1 JUCO guard in the nation.

I am excited to see what Feliz can do on the court. I think Illinois actually upgraded at the backup role. Feliz is going to be a player who can come in and control the offense. While he and Frazier are different players, I think the Illinois offense will be able to run smoothly when Feliz comes into the game.
