The Illinois basketball roster continues to morph as the days go on.

Just about a week ago, I was thinking the options to fill the final three scholarships were dwindling. I wasn’t sure they were even going to be filled. My mindset was to just ride with what we have and then figure out what we can piece together for 2019.

On top of still having three open scholarships, Illinois was also in desperate need of another big man who could potentially start this upcoming season. The options the Illini have gone after either decided not to come to Champaign or they might not be eligible this fall.

But, over the last week, things have started to change. There have been two big commitments that should help the Illini program go from uncertain future to NCAA tournament contenders. My confidence in postseason possibilities was waning as of late, but the new additions have brought me back onboard with the mindset of dancing come March.

I am excited to see what the new additions can do on this Illinois basketball team. They will make an impact year one because of their skill and need for big men.

Here is the projected Illini starting lineup with Adonis De La Rosa.
