One of the great snags by the Illinois football coaching staff in the class of 2017 was Carmoni Green. They pulled this kid from the state of Florida, and he was one of the top players in the nation.

Green was a 6-foot-1, 192-pound wide receiver coming from Miami Central High School in Miami, Florida. He was rated as a three-star recruit who was the No. 515 player in the class of 2017 and the No. 75 wide receiver in the nation.

Much like Smalling, Green’s 2017 campaign wasn’t what it should have been. With the quarterback situation in peril, Green did what he could. He ended the season with eight catches for 75 yards. Of course, these numbers will improve as the quarterback situation improves which should start this year.

The 2018 season will tell me where Green should be slotted in 2019. If he emerges as one of best on the team this season, then I think he would be a starter for the foreseeable future.

I have Green seeing a lot of snaps the rest of his career, but I think he could be the top wide receiver coming off the bench in 2019. He will be a vital part of this team. I could see him being a great piece to a Big Ten title contending program.
