There are good things coming for the Illinois football team in the next few years.

The fact Lovie Smith and the Illini coaching staff has secured a talented class of 2019 so far is exciting. These players will add to the past few classes to help build the program back into a contender once again. No matter what anyone says, the future is bright in Champaign.

Illinois had a bunch of recruits and commits come up this weekend for a camp and to visit the campus. This was a big weekend for the Illini because they had a chance to show some of the big-time players who are still left in the class of 2019 that LittyvILLe is all it is cracked up to be.

Some of the top targets who donned the Orange and Blue this weekend were Shammond Cooper, Maurice Massey and Keith Randolph, among others. The current class of 2019 was up there as well. This group included the likes of Bryce Childress, Isaiah Williams and Marquez Beason to name a few.

“It was a great visit as always,” said Beason, “I just wanted to have a good time with the other guys.”

The excitement is palpable among the Illinois fan base. Two of the top recruits in the class of 2019 are coming to Memorial Stadium, and they will light the world on fire. Beason and Williams is a duo that will be remembered in Illinois football lore for the rest of time.

Williams to Beason is going to be a phrase uttered frequently in their time with the Illini. But, are they building that chemistry with one another yet? Have they started to gel on the football field?

“You saw the video,” said Beason, “Yup, it’s a natural connection.”

I know it is early, but I am ready to liken Beason and Williams to Tom and Jerry, Batman and Robin and Peanut Butter and Jelly. These two great players will be legendary. This past weekend should go a long way in getting them some help on the football field as well.

Over the next few days, hopefully, Illinois pulls in another recruit. If not, they are still on the top list for a handful of recruits as of right now. I am sure there are more to come. Patience is key Illini fans. Just enjoy what we have right now in the class of 2019 and let that be the hope for the future.
