Illinois Football: 5 recruits who have Illini on their top list
Fabian McCray – Top 7
One of the top players Illinois has been pursuing for the last few years is Fabian McCray. He is a pass catcher who would help this program win some games in the future.
McCray is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound wide receiver from Phillips Academy in Chicago, Illinois. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 917 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 111 wide receiver in the nation.
Just a few weeks ago, McCray cut his list down to seven schools. He included Rutgers, Purdue, Iowa State, Kentucky, Minnesota, Yale and Illinois in this group. But, the thing that worries me about his top seven list is that he recently deleted the post on Twitter.
I am not sure when McCray deleted the post, but he has pinned the offer from West Virginia to his profile. This is what makes me nervous. I am thinking the Mountaineers might be in the running for his commitment now.
Illinois has had McCray on his radar for a long time. He has been a huge target for the program and getting him would boost the wide receiver core. I think Illinois probably still has the lead but it might be by a slim margin. Other teams are coming on strong.

Hopefully, Illinois can close on McCray. I want him in the Orange and Blue. He will be a really good player in the college game.
