This has been one of the craziest offseasons in the history of the Illinois basketball program.

Let’s first start off by saying how excited I am for the class of 2018. Brad Underwood brought in a group of six players who will do wonders for this team. They will all see minutes year one and be important parts to what is hopefully a successful season.

These newcomers are going to see the floor, but that is because there are so many players who are transferring out of the program. On the roster right now, Illinois only has four returning scholarship players. That is an incredible stat. The four returning players are Trent Frazier, Aaron Jordan, Kipper Nichols and Da’Monte Williams.

Of course, this changes the starting lineup drastically. Illinois is going to insert the freshmen into the missing slots that were left by the departing players. That means the Illini will kind of be like the football team from this past season. The youth movement is in full swing, but in this case, it wasn’t by choice.

Illinois can still win some games, though. This season isn’t lost, and I still think they have enough talent to potentially get to the NCAA tournament.

Here is the projected Illini starting lineup without Greg Eboigbodin.
