The Illinois football team tapped into the Florida market with their next scholarship offer.

Seth Coleman was the recipient of this offer. He is a 6-foot-4, 200-pound weak-side defensive end from Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy in Melbourne, Florida. He isn’t rated or ranked according to 247Sports, but he does have about 15 scholarship offers right now.

I think Illinois is the biggest scholarship offer on Coleman’s plate. He does have offers from some other solid programs like Middle Tennessee State, South Florida and Western Kentucky, but I think Illinois would have a strong chance at landing him if they wanted to put some resources into his recruitment.

There are some things that I like about Coleman that could make him a really dangerous player at the next level. But, there are also some things that worry me about what he brings to table. Let’s start with the bad and end with the good.

I am worried about Coleman’s size at defensive end. He is only 200-pounds and looks less than that when watching him play. If he brings that size to the college game, then I think he ends up getting pushed around at defensive end. Honestly, this is the major worry with this kid. But, there are ways to fix that issue.

The first way is the obvious one. Coleman will have a better training program in college and this will build muscle and get him bigger. But, the second option could be to move him to linebacker. He has solid size for a linebacker who can drop back in coverage but also rush the passer.

That brings me to the great things about Coleman’s game. He is so quick. This kid can get to the quarterback before the offense has an idea about what is going on. His speed is what will help him tremendously at the next level. This speed would also be great in dropping him back into pass coverage as well.

I also like how Coleman can see the field. He can see where the hole is opening up and then he hits it with a lot of force. He has the potential to be a really good player because of this.

I would imagine the offer from the Illini means they see a lot of potential in Coleman. This kid could be a diamond in the rough. Hopefully, Illinois can make some ground up and potentially land him for 2019.
