3. Demetri McCamey (14.6 pts, 6.1 asts, 3.4 rebs)

Most of Demetri McCamey’s career was in the 2000’s and we will get to that decade at a later date. But, he did play into the 2010’s and was sensational in doing so. He is arguably the most underrated Illinois player in the history of the program.

For his career, McCamey averaged 12.4 points, 5.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game. Those are pretty great numbers for an entire career considering players usually have down freshman campaigns. But, McCamey was pretty consistent his entire time in Champaign.

While McCamey’s best year was his junior campaign, he still managed to put up 14.6 points, 6.1 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game during his senior season. Illinois was fairly successful during his time with the team as well.

Illinois made the NCAA tournament during McCamey’s sophomore season. They were ousted by Western Kentucky in the classic 12-over-5 seed scenario. During his senior campaign, the Illini also made the tournament as well. This time they advanced to the second round only to lose to No. 1 Kansas.

McCamey’s stats are impressive. He was a great player while in the Orange and Blue. That is why he is on the list of the top players in the 2010’s.
