The Illinois golf team entered the Big Ten Tournament as the favorites, and they haven’t disappointed.
After day one, the Illini were two shots back of the lead. Ohio State led the pack shooting a -1, 278. Day two came around and Illinois took the lead back from the Buckeyes. The Illini played well and shot an amazing -12, 268, in the second round.
Ohio State is right behind, though, as they threw up a -9, 271, to remain only one shot back of the lead. Beyond Illinois and Ohio State, there really isn’t another team vying for the title. Iowa and Penn State are the next closest teams at +3 compared to Illinois who is -11 and Ohio State who is -10.
Illinois had some players go really low in round two. The score that was thrown out on day two was Bryan Baumgarten who was only +2. He didn’t even have a bad day by any means. But, the rest of the team shot lights out.
Dylan Meyer finished the second round with the fourth best score at -1. He had a nice consistent day with two bogeys, three birdies and the rest pars. He currently sits at -2 for the tournament and that is good enough for eighth place.
Nick Hardy came in with the third-best score shooting a -2, 68. He is currently -3 for the tournament which is good enough for third place right now. Illinois’ No. 4 and No. 5 golfers took the headlines for day two of the Big Ten Tournament, though.
Giovanni Tadiotto shot a second round -3, 67. This was a great round that saw four birdies, a bogey and the rest pars. Tadiotto now sits at +1 for the tournament which is good enough for 13th place.
Illinois’ No. 5 golfer this week was Michael Feagles. He shot a first round +4 but rebounded with one of his best rounds in the Orange and Blue. He had six birdies and the rest pars to shoot a -6, 64. He helped the Illini to a lead heading into the final round.

It is amazing how deep the Illini golf team is every season. It is insane to have a No. 1 golfer shoot a 64, but the fact their No. 5 golfer threw up that number is incredible. Illinois is playing well at the right time and, hopefully, they can close out another Big Ten crown and head into the NCAA tournament with even more momentum.
