2. Nick Broeker

Building the offensive line is imperative to the success of the Illinois football team. They have some solid pieces in place right now but getting someone like Nick Broeker would help bolster what is already a talented squad.

Broeker is a 6-foot-5, 270-pound offensive tackle from Sacred Heart Griffin High School in Springfield, Illinois. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 847 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 14 player in the state of Illinois.

Illinois has been on Broeker for quite some time. He visited the program back in October 2017 and since then, he has attended the Illini junior day and took an unofficial visit to the campus as well. There is mutual interest between the two parties and the coaching staff has a lot to do with it.

Broeker told the Writing Illini a few weeks ago that he enjoys the coaching staff and his relationship with Coach Butkus. He also likes the system new offensive coordinator Rod Smith is bringing in because it is similar to the one he plays in high school right now.

The most recruiting attention given to Broeker right now is coming from Illinois, Oklahoma State, Minnesota and Kentucky, to go along with a myriad of MAC programs. No official visits have been planned, and he is just taking the recruiting process one step at a time.

I think Illinois could be the destination for Broeker when it is all said and done. He has a lot of talent and is a top 1000 player. Getting him would be a big in-state commitment for the Illini.
