Illinois Football: Top 5 in-state recruiting targets for the Illini

The Illinois football team is putting together a special class of 2019 that continues to gain momentum by the day.

This class has a chance to be the best we have ever seen in the history of the program. There are talented players spread throughout the country who have given the Illini at least a thought when it comes to the recruiting game.

Some of these players who have entertained the possibilities of coming to Champaign have actually committed. The class of 2019 consists of Isaiah Williams, Marquez Beason and Griffin Moore. All three of these players should be great with the program.

But, one thing that has eluded Lovie Smith and this coaching staff is the ability to snag talented in-state kids. Yes, there have been some great players come to Champaign from the state of Illinois, but the quantity has been an issue. There has been more slip away than actually commit.

This all could be changing, though. The class of 2019 is littered with talented in-state recruits for the Illini to bring into the program. I really like the possibilities of landing just about every one of the targets on this list.
