No. 1 Guard

Starter: Ayo Dosunmu

The highest rated recruit the Illini landed from the class of 2018 was Ayo Dosunmu. He is a 6-foot-4, 172-pound guard from Morgan Park High School in Chicago, Illinois. He is rated as a five-star recruit who is the No. 26 player in the class of 2018 and the No. 1 player in the state of Illinois.

Dosunmu will come in and start immediately for the Illini. There isn’t a doubt he will make a huge impact on this team. He is the highest rated recruit the Illini have snagged since Dee Brown. I expect Dosunmu being the starting No. 1 for Illinois this season. He can not only score but his handles are great as well.

Backup: Andres Feliz

Illinois snagged a big-time junior college transfer on Sunday morning. Andres Feliz decided to pull the trigger after taking a visit to Champaign over the weekend. This was a big get for the Illini because they needed someone to fill in for departing guard Te’Jon Lucas.

Feliz averaged 20 points, 6.1 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game during his sophomore season at Northwest Florida State. He spent two seasons at the JUCO level. He will be a great backup to Dosunmu this upcoming season. This was a very underrated pickup for the Illini.
