5. Nick Broeker

Without a great offensive line, the Illinois football team can’t have a great program. They have solid players up front right now, but they need to continue adding to the hogs. That is why Nick Broeker is important for 2019.

Broeker is a 6-foot-5, 270-pound offensive tackle from Sacred Heart Griffin High School in Springfield, Illinois. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 822 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 14 player in the state of Illinois.

The recruitment of Broeker has been interesting. Illinois seems to be in the lead right now but more and more offers continue to come in. The Illini seem to be focusing on him, though. He also attended the Illinois junior day as well.

Broeker would come into the Illinois football program and make a difference day one. He would compete for a starting job but at worst be a primary backup. This kid is really talented and would be a sneaky pickup for the Illini.

Illinois also had his brother – Jack Broeker – play for the team as well. There is that family connection with the program, and Champaign is by far the closest offer to him. His friends and family would be able to see him play on Saturdays.

Getting Broeker would be big for the Illini. Building the front lines is important and Broeker would help accomplish that goal.
