3. Kyren Williams

The Illinois wide receiver core has a chance to be really special. There are some great options coming in, and adding a player like Kyren Williams could really help get this program where it needs to be.

Williams is a 5-foot-10, 200-pound wide receiver from St. John Vianney High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 551 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 12 player in the state of Missouri.

Illinois seemed to have been on Williams for a while but the momentum for him has slowed down. In multiple articles I have read throughout the internet, few if any have mentioned the Illini. It seems like he is really on Notre Dame right now. They are the hot team for his commitment.

But, Illinois might not be out of it. They have great recruiters and a need at the wide receiver position. The Illini wide receiver depth won’t be there in 2019, as of right now. They have some great pass catchers but behind them, there isn’t much in the way of depth. Adding a player like Williams would be tremendous for this team.

Williams would come in and see snaps right away. He wouldn’t necessarily start, but he could be one of the main backups or he could be used in different ways. I wouldn’t mind seeing him as a running back and wide receiver combo. He would be a dangerous weapon out of the backfield. That is what Lovie is looking for.
