Illinois Football: Illini top 5 offensive recruits left for 2019
1. Marcus Washington
There are still some highly rated players left on the table for the Illinois football team, and the possibility of sneaking into Marcus Washington’s recruitment still seems to be there.
Washington is a 6-foot-2, 170-pound wide receiver from Trinity Catholic High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 62 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 11 wide receiver in the nation.
Back on March 7, Washington came out with his top ten but didn’t include Illinois. His top ten featured Alabama, Florida State, Iowa State, Missouri, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, USC and Texas. But, it feels like Illinois might have some recruiting momentum when it comes to Washington’s recruitment.
Current Illini commits like Marquez Beason and Isaiah Williams continue to recruit for the class of 2019. They have been on Washington a lot about coming to Champaign, and this might help get Illini in the door. Do I think Illinois will land Washington? No, but I think they have a shot at making some waves and getting in his next list if he decides to cut the current one.
Getting Washington would be huge for the Illinois football program. He would come in and start day one for the Illini. He would also have his high school quarterback – Isaiah Williams – throwing to him as well. That chemistry would be amazing.
