Illinois Basketball: Updated top 5 Illini targets for the class of 2018
5. Courtney Ramey
The prized recruit still left on the market for 2018 is Courtney Ramey. Many teams have been after him, but he continues to keep his recruitment relatively quiet and no one really knows where he is going to end up.
Ramey is a 6-foot-3, 170-pound point guard from Webster Groves High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 31 player in the class of 2018 and the No. 8 point guard in the nation. Getting Ramey will be tough but he hasn’t narrowed his decision down just yet.
The recruitment of Ramey has been crazy. He committed to Louisville back in February 2017. Rick Pitino then got into some trouble, and Ramey decided to back out of his commitment. Since then, what seems like every head coach under the sun has visited or offered Ramey a scholarship.
Ramey has been on two official visits, one to Oklahoma State on December 9 and then Texas on December 28. Illinois has been one of the schools on him for a while. They have been to visit Ramey multiple times and continue to do so. Others who are trying to get into the mix are Missouri and South Carolina. Both of the programs have legit shots at landing him as well.
If I had to guess a top five for Ramey right now, I would say it is South Carolina, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Illinois and I would add in Louisville as a sleeper. They could get in this again with the addition of Chris Mack as head coach.

Ramey would be a great get for the Illini but I am weary on their chances. The recruitment of Ramey has been quiet and this makes me nervous. I think we will have an answer in the next three weeks, though.
