4. Lukas Kisunas

The Illinois basketball team has been in search for a big for the last few years. They may have another chance at one who was on their radar previously, though.

Lukas Kisunas was a big target for the Illini toward the end of 2017. But, he ended up committing to play basketball for the UConn Huskies. This commitment ended on Thursday because of the coaching change that happened with the program. Now, Kisunas is back on the market.

Kisunas is somewhere between 6-foot-8 and 6-foot-10 depending on what site you are looking at. He attended Brewster Academy last season, which is one of the most prestigious programs in the nation. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 143 player in the class of 2018 and the No. 8 center in the nation.

Illinois needs someone to come in and contribute right away. I think Kisunas could do that. I am not sure he would start day one, but he would come in and get minutes without a doubt. He is a big body who could play either the No. 4 or No. 5 for this team.

I am not sure where Kisunas’ recruitment stands, though. He only took two official visits before making a commitment this past year. UConn was one of the official visits and Illinois was the other. That is why I think the Illini have a shot here. Getting Kisunas would be a nice addition. I think he could be a pretty good player for this program.
