3. Tevian Jones

The recruitment of Tevain Jones has been up and down for me. There are times where I think the Illini will land him, but then there are times I think they have no shot. But, this will all come to an end during the signing period.

Jones is a 6-foot-6, 185-pound forward from Culver City High School in Culver City, California. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 85 player in the class of 2018 and the No. 20 small forward in the nation. There have been many teams after Jones, but his recruitment will come to an end as he announced he will make his decision on April 11.

It really seems like Jones’ recruitment has come down to Illinois and Arizona. The Illini seem to have the lead right now just by the way his recruitment feels. Ayo Dosunmu is also recruiting him to come to Champaign, which is nice to have as well.

The most recent 247Sports prediction has Illinois as the landing spot for Jones too. Currently, there is a 100-percent agreement that he ends up in the Orange and Blue. This would be a great addition for Brad Underwood and the coaching staff.

I could see Dosunmu being the lead guard who handles the ball. Trent Frazier is at the No. 2 because he is more of a scorer than anyone we have on the court. Jones could then play the No. 3 for the Illini. This would give the team a scoring option there as well as a bigger player who could create mismatches against the opposing team. Landing Jones would be big for the Illini.
