Illinois Basketball: Updated top 5 Illini targets for the class of 2018
The Illinois basketball team still has a lot of work to do for the class of 2018.
Illinois currently has three spots available on the roster and they need to fill those roles with players who will make an impact. More spots have opened up as of late as well. The Illini departures this season include Leron Black, Michael Finke, Mark Smith, Mark Alstork and Te’Jon Lucas.
There have been some additions to the program as well. Illinois is adding Ayo Dosunmu, Alan Griffin, Giorgi Bezhanishvilil and Samba Kane to the mix. But, with three scholarships left, who will join this talented class coming in?
Illinois has been after a wide range of players since Brad Underwood took the reins a little over a year ago. Some recruits have toyed with the idea of coming to Champaign but have bolted to play elsewhere. There have been some top players – like Dosunmu – who wanted to stay home and win for the in-state program. By no mean is Illinois even close to being done with the class of 2018, though.
There are still some big fish out there for the Illini to snag. I like a handful of players who could help this team get to the NCAA tournament next season.
Here is an updated list of the top five Illini targets for the class of 2018.
