Illinois Basketball: Illini depth chart with Samba Kane and Tevian Jones
The Illinois basketball team is going through some changes and the lineup will look a lot different than last season.
Illinois fans will see some of the similar faces, though. Depending on if anyone transfers, I think there will be a few starters from last year who will start this season as well. But, there will be some new faces coming into the program that will have legit shot at starting, and a few more who could be committing in the near future.
The holes in the team were evident last season with the No. 5 spot being the biggest need for the Illini. Hopefully, this weekend ends up being incredible for the program. They have big man Samba Kane coming in as well as sharpshooting guard Tevian Jones. I also heard Ayo Dosunmu might be coming down to help with recruiting as well. He is the big five-star guard Brad Underwood landed. This is arguably the biggest recruiting weekend the Illini basketball team has had in years.
Kane should help with the paint issues and Jones should help fill the void left by departing guard Mark Alstork. These two would be sensational in the Orange and Blue. Getting more talent in from the class of 2018 is important. The class already consists of Dosunmu and Alan Griffin, both of whom are going to be really good for the Illini. Now they need to put the icing on the recruiting cake and land two more solid players.
Here is the projected Illini depth chart with Samba Kane and Tevian Jones.
