3. Trent Frazier is fun but wild

I think everyone who claims to be an Illini fan loves Trent Frazier. There is no reason to think this kid won’t be a superstar for this program the next year or two. He has the ability to put up points in bunches and his ball handling is exciting.

So far this season, Frazier has averaged 12.3 points, 2.9 assists and 1.8 rebounds per game. This production continued on Wednesday night as he finished with 12 points, five assists and two rebounds. He is truly a great player for this Illini program.

While Frazier is fun to watch every game, he does have a tendency to get a little wild at times. This comes with the label of superstar, but I think some of the greats are at that level because they take care of the ball and take smart shots.

Frazier hasn’t been the most efficient player in the world this season. He is shooting 41.5-percent from the field, which is actually pretty good all things considered. He is also 33.1-percent from three-point land. That number needs to improve slightly, though.

What I want to see improve with Frazier is his assist-to-turnover ratio. Right now, he is sitting with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.2. That means for every 1.2 assists Frazier has in a game, he has one turnover. That isn’t good. That essentially eliminates the assist he had because he gave the ball back to the other team.

I think Frazier is going to be one of the greatest to ever don the Orange and Blue. He has special abilities that I think will translate into wins in the future. But, he is a little wild and I would like for him to be a little more efficient.
