The Illinois basketball team took on the Indiana Hoosiers on Wednesday night and fell short of getting the victory.

This was a tough game for the Illini because they were on the road, and they were missing Michael Finke as well. Losing to the Hoosiers always hurts a little more than any other game.

Illinois actually didn’t start off too bad. They had the lead 11-8 about five minutes into the game. Things were clicking for the Illini. But, Indiana finally took back the lead at the 10:25 mark in the first half, 17-14. This was in the middle of an Illinois scoring drought that lasted six minutes and four seconds.

In this drought, Indiana managed to continue scoring. They extended the lead to 26-14 before the Illini scored their next points at the 6:19 mark in the first half. Illinois ended up getting the score back to a 10-point margin at halftime, though.

The second half started amazing for the Illini. They played really well and even got the game back to a two-point margin with 13:12 left in the game. Illinois kept fighting but Indiana extended the lead more. When the final buzzer blew, the Illini ended up losing the game 78-68.

Here are five takeaways from the Illini loss to Indiana.
