3. Trent Frazier will end up as one of the greatest Illini players

Ethan Happ had a good night for the Wisconsin Badgers when they beat down the Illini. But, he was not the leading scorer with 27 points. That honor went to one of the few bright spots on a rather glooming season.

Trent Frazier continued his tear on Thursday night as he dropped 32 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the field and 7-of-11 from the three-point arc. He was sensational the entire game and is one of the few reasons why I still have a lot of hope for the future of this Illinois basketball team.

This big night by Frazier marked his career high in points with 32. The previous high for him was 27 points against the Iowa Hawkeyes where he was oddly enough 10-of-20 from the field and 7-of-11 from three-point range as well.

Frazer has now hit the double-digit scoring mark in 15 of the last 17 games he has played. That is impressive. He has also hit the 20-point mark four times in that span. The record book continues to get changed as well.

After the big performance last night by Frazier, he is now averaging 12.5 points per game. That would put him No. 4 all-time on the Illinois freshman scoring record. He would be just ahead of Efrem Winters who averaged 12.4 PPG. This is a great list as well. He probably won’t catch the top three who are Kiwane Garris (15.9), Cory Bradford (15.4) and Deon Thomas (15.1).

Frazier is going to be a legend with the Illinois basketball team. Hopefully, we can get him to the NCAA tournament on a consistent basis, though.
