Jason Bargy – Defensive End

The Illinois football team landed and developed some great defensive ends in 2017. This was an impressive defensive end class that will continue to build the next few seasons. But, Illinois could always use more help.

Illinois has a great option in their backyard in Jason Bargy. Bargy is a 6-foot-4, 225-pound defensive end from Momence High School in Momence, Illinois. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 155 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 3 player in the state of Illinois.

Getting someone like Bargy would be huge for the Illinois football program. He is such a highly-rated defensive player who would help the team instantly. I think landing his commitment is going to be extremely difficult, though.

Lovie has made Bargy a priority for the Illini in 2019. In addition to the scholarship offer, Lovie has also visited him on September 21 and then again on November 29. It is clear that Lovie wants Bargy on the team in 2019 and this is a positive sign. I think the Illini have a solid shot at him as well. They are 100-percent according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball and he is an in-state kid. They should be able to snag him.

Illinois recruited some solid defensive ends in the class of 2017 but getting Bargy would instantly improve the squad. He would compete and probably start day one. Adding him would also provide tremendous depth.
