Offensive Guard

Starter: Nick Allegretti

The old man on offense for the Illinois football team is senior Nick Allegretti. He is entering his final season with the Illini and should be one of the captains in every game the team plays in 2018.

Allegretti easily has the starting guard job for the Illini. He started every game last season – four at center and eight at guard – but should be solely a guard this upcoming season.

Illinois has had a lot of offensive lineman talent come and go, but Allegretti remains one of the best we have ever seen. He will do great things this year and help the young talent mature into solid offensive linemen.

I wouldn’t doubt if Allegretti finishes as one of the best offensive linemen in the country. He already has a ton of accolades under his belt, so let’s see a First Team All-American nomination.

Backup: Kievan Myers

Another sensational freshman recruit from the class of 2018 is Kievan Myers. He was a high three-star recruit who is the No.989 player in the class of 2018 and the No. 41 guard in the nation.

Myers probably won’t see a ton of playing time with Allegretti being ahead of him, but he will get some invaluable knowledge from one of the best offensive linemen in the country. This will help Myers and the Illini in the future.

I really like Myers and his future with the program. He is a talented offensive lineman who I think can be a big-time impact player for the Illini early on in his career.
