Illinois Football: Early Illini projected depth chart for 2018

The Illinois football team struggled mightily last season, but the 2018 campaign brings new players and a renewed sense of hope.

Illinois’ depth chart saw some dramatic changes last year. There was a movement to youth and this enabled the coaching staff to get a better look at what they are dealing with moving forward. But, playing the young players really hurt the overall record.

I am excited to see what some of the now experienced players can do with a mix of new talent coming into the program. There are a lot of great players coming in from the class of 2018 who will make an impact on the team day one.

I have incorporated some of the Illini recruits who have not only committed to the Illinois program but have signed during the early signing period as well. These players will help get the Illini to a point where they are contending in almost every game.

There are some veteran players who have departed, though. While these players will be missed, it gives some other players a chance to shine. There are still some holes to fill from departures and I am excited to see who steps up.
