Illinois Football: Illini commits who plan to sign NLI this week
6. Edwin Carter
Illinois secured commitments from some talented wide receivers in the class of 2017. These pass catchers came into the program and made an impact on the team from day one. One thing Illinois is missing is a big wide receiver who can go up and get the ball.
Edwin Carter could be the man to do that. He is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound wide receiver from Jacksonville, Florida. He just committed to Illinois on December 11 just a few days after his official visit. This is a sneaky good pickup for the Illini.
The recruiting sites have Carter listed as a three-star recruit who is the No. 1425 player in the class of 2018 and the No. 210 wide receiver in the nation. Carter didn’t have a ton of scholarship offers, though. Illinois was easily the biggest program to offer him a scholarship but don’t be fooled, he will be a contributor to this team.
Carter will end his recruitment like some of his fellow Illini commits. He will be signing his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, December 20. This will be a nice signing for the Illini and I can’t wait to see how he is used in the offense.
