5. Ron Hardge III

A football team can never have enough defensive backs. Illinois discovered that over the last few years, but this past season, there were a few who emerged as starters moving forward. One position that really stood out was safety. Bennett Williams really did a great job this season.

But, Illinois needs more safety help. They had a transfer that hurt and now they need to replace him with someone who can see action in the near future. That someone just might be Ron Hardge III.

Hardge was a nice pickup for the Illini. He really liked the program back in June 2017 and even committed then as well. I think he is a little underrated, though. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 1911 player in the class of 2018 and the No. 154 safety in the nation. But, he has a lot of big-time offers. He committed to Illinois over teams like Mississippi State, NC State and Pittsburgh.

The recruitment of Hardge is officially coming to an end. In another tweet by Werner, Hardge is set to sign his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, December 20. This will be a nice get for the Illini.
