Longwood Lancers

What should come easy is a win in their next game against Longwood on December 13.  The Lancers visit Illinois from Farmwood, Virginia.  Longwood is 3-5 as I write this, having played no one ranking higher than No. 144 on kenpom and with wins only against non-DI schools.

Longwood went 6-24 last year, including 3-15 in the Big South.  You might recognize that conference as it boasts regular post-season contender threats, Winthrop and UNC Asheville.  But, the Lancers are no threat to anyone.  They are projected to finish No. 9 in the conference.  They are currently ranked No. 345 on kenpom.

The Lancers have a couple good players in redshirt junior guard Isiah Walton (19 ppg) who shoots 47-percent from the three-point arc and Damian Geter, a 6-foot-8, 230-pound redshirt senior who averages almost 8 rebounds per game.  But, needless to say, this should be a game the Illini run away with as they continue to get better in Underwood’s system.
