2. Marquise Walker

Not a lot of people are talking about Marquise Walker anymore. This kid was talked about for a while over the last year but for some reason, he has dropped off some peoples radars.

I really like Walker and think he could be a really good player for the Illini. He is a 6-foot, 170-pound point guard from St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Illinois. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 108 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 18 point guard in the nation.

There is nothing like snagging some top in-state talent. Walker is ranked as the No. 3 player in the state of Illinois for 2019. I would love to add him to the team because Illinois needs to continue building depth at the No. 1 and No. 2 roles on the team.

When 2019 rolls around, Te’Jon Lucas will be a senior with Trent Frazier and, maybe, Mark Smith as juniors. In addition to these three, Da’Monte Williams will be a junior and incoming 2018 commit Ayo Dosunmu would be a sophomore. There is some nice depth here but it won’t last long.

Having that much depth will enable Walker to redshirt year one and the following year Lucas and Dosunmu would depart leaving playing time open for him in 2020. The depth Walker would add to the team would be invaluable. That is why I want this kid.

Edit: Walker transferred to Curie this summer.
