The Illinois basketball team has an opportunity to have a special class of 2019.

Right now, the Illini are coming down to the end of recruiting for the class of 2018. Ayo Dosunmu is the only commitment for the program right now, and he is going to be a special player. I have heard reports Illinois is also after another big man but no name has been released yet.

But, overall, the class of 2018 might not fill the fill two scholarships any time soon. I assume there will be a graduate transfer or two Illinois snags for 2018 but then those two scholarships will remain open for 2019. That will be a good thing for the Illini, though.

The class of 2019 brings some talented players and most of them are in-state products. I really like what is coming out of this class and think the Illini can do some damage if they can sign certain players.

There is a possibility Illinois will have five scholarships available for 2019. There are two left right now for 2018 and if a graduate transfer takes up both of those, those two will be available in 2019 as well. That would leave five open. That will make plenty of room for the top targets I am looking at.

Here are the top targets for the Illini in 2019.
