Ayo Dosunmu kept the Illinois basketball team in his top 11 yesterday.

The other 10 programs Dosunmu will choose from have different things to offer. There are also reasons why these teams won’t be selected as well.

Here is why Xavier, Wake Forest, NC State, USC and UConn won’t be picked by Dosunmu.

Xavier Musketeers

The Xavier Musketeers haven’t had anyone sign up for the class of 2018, yet. But, that isn’t necessarily a draw for a talented guard like Dosunmu. He will still have to deal with roster depth from the previous two recruiting classes.

Paul Scruggs plays the same role on the team as Dosunmu. Both are a similar size and I doubt he will be a one-and-done. Elias Harden came in the class of 2017 as well. He is roughly the same position and was a four-star recruit.

The class of 2016 also brought in Quentin Goodin. He finished last season averaging 24.1 minutes, 5.1 points and 3.4 assists per game. His spot in the starting lineup is likely locked in for the next few years.

Good recruiting classes the past two seasons could cost minutes for Dosunmu. There is no guarantee he will start for Xavier and that will hurt their chances of landing him.

In addition to the roster not being favorable for Dosunmu, Xavier’s head coach Chris Mack might not be there much longer. He is always rumored to be in the mix for head coaching jobs after every season. I wouldn’t doubt if he bolts in the next few years if a big-time program has availability.
