6. Amanze Ngumezi (Confidence: 3 out of 10)

Another name that is starting to pick up steam in the recruitment game, and the most recent player to get a scholarship offer from Illinois, is Amanze Ngumezi.

Ngumezi is a 6-foot-9, 235-pound power forward from Johnson High School in Savannah, Georgia. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 194 player by Scout and the No. 192 player by 247Sports in the class of 2018. He is also the No. 11 player in the state of Georgia as well.

Usually, with a player ranked that low on the recruiting sites, many big-time programs wouldn’t be after him. That isn’t the case with Ngumezi, though. He has 20 scholarship offers and a lot of them are from big Division I programs.

In a recent interview with Dan McDonald of Rivals, Ngumezi broke his recruitment down. He likes Georgia because that is where he is from. He talked about how Virginia Tech liked his versatility. And he feels really good about Clemson. But, when Ngumezi talked about the Illini, he said Illinois told him he could play multiple positions but he isn’t too familiar with the program.

This isn’t an endorsement for the Illini by any means. It looks to me that he either has a lot more to learn about the Illini or they are on the far outside looking in.
