No. 1 Guard

Starter: Te’Jon Lucas (Senior)

When 2019 rolls around, the starting point guard on the Illinois basketball team is still likely to be senior, Te’Jon Lucas. Yes, it is hard to see Lucas as a senior already because it feels like yesterday he was coming off the bench as a true freshman.

Lucas and the Illini will be coming off back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances and will be returning back to the Sweet 16 to try and advance further in the postseason in 2019. This is the goal in mind because of how much talent the Illini could have. With Lucas leading the way at the No. 1 guard spot, the sky is the limit for Illinois.

Trent Frazier (Junior)

One of the biggest reasons for the success of the Illinois basketball team in 2018 and 2019 is depth. The depth is created by guard, Trent Frazier. He brings stability to the guard position and continues to get 20-plus minutes off the bench for the Illini.

Frazier is a versatile player who will spell minutes for Lucas but will also be on the court at the same time as him as well. He helps give Underwood options when it comes to his rotations and the future of the Illinois basketball team.
