Illinois Basketball: Breakdown of Tim Finke’s top 5 list
Oregon Ducks
Pros
The Oregon Ducks have been fun to watch over the last few years. They were extremely talented and had a ton of experienced players. But, those players are going to be leaving or have already left. That is the first pro for Finke.
Finke will be able to get a ton of playing time with Oregon. There are only three players on the roster right now who will be around in 2018. That means Finke will have a chance to see a lot of minutes early on in his career.
Another pro is head coach Dana Altman. He has led the Ducks to five straight NCAA tournament appearances and before Oregon, he was a winning with the Creighton Bluejays. He is a great coach who would be great to play under.
Cons
There are actually a handful of cons to go along with the pros for Oregon. While there is going to be a lot of playing time with the Ducks, that means there isn’t much of a team around Finke.
Oregon only has three players returning on the current roster in 2018. They also only have one player committed for 2018 right now as well. So there is a major deficiency in depth and in talent on this team, so don’t expect to win immediately.
The Ducks are also the furthest team away as well. This would be a haul for any of your family to see you play basketball, let alone, you friends. That is a tough decision for a high school kid to make.
