Te’Jon Lucas

Last season wasn’t good for the Illini as they missed their fourth straight NCAA tournament. But, there were a few players you could tell had a bright future ahead of them. One of those players was Te’Jon Lucas.

Lucas is back for his sophomore campaign and Illini Nation should be excited for this kid. He dazzled last year with his great passing ability. His energy was contagious as well. He was an all-around great player to have on the basketball team and without him, the program would have struggled to see as many wins as they did.

Expect Lucas to be back in the starting role once again for the Illini. He earned his spot last year and he will do it again this season as well. Underwood is a different coach than John Groce, but when you have talent on the court you have to play it. Lucas is going to win over Underwood in a heartbeat.

The No. 1 guard spot will go to Lucas. He will share the ball handling duties but will see a lot of minutes next season. Look for him to receive around 28 minutes per game for the Illini. That is around where the starting No. 1 guard for the Cowboys was as well.
