7. Myjai Sanders Top 15

Illinois needs to continue focusing on the defense. They have done a great job recruiting the offensive side of the ball and now they are starting to pick up some interest from defensive players as well.

A defensive end to keep an eye on is Myjai Sanders. He just cut his list down to 15 programs which included Florida Atlantic, Connecticut, Middle Tennessee, Kentucky, Maryland, Colorado State, Toledo, Rutgers, Mississippi State, USF, Troy, Western Kentucky, Virginia Tech, UCF and Illinois. This is a list that the Illini can compete with for this talented player.

Sanders is a little undersized right now but having a staff like the one at Illinois will put some meat on him. He is a 6-foot-4, 215-pound defensive end from William M. Raines High School in Jacksonville, Florida. He is rated as a three-star recruit who isn’t ranked nationally.

Like previously mentioned, Illinois could always use more defensive end help. Sanders would likely sit out his freshman season due to a redshirt but then would be available for the 2019 campaign. When that season rolls around, the Illini would need defensive end help.

Illinois wouldn’t have a defensive end on the roster besides Owen Carney in 2019. He would likely be a junior for the Illini. That means there would be plenty of playing time available for Sanders. Hopefully, Lovie can convince him Champaign is the right landing spot. Illinois needs more depth on the defensive line and Sanders would be a perfect fit.
