Illinois Football: 7 recruits who have Illini on top list
6. Kievan Myers Top 15
Protecting the quarterback has been an issue for the Illinois offensive line for quite some time now. They struggled last season immensely and they will continue to struggle if more talent isn’t recruited into the program.
One player who could help with this struggle is Kievan Myers. He cut his list down to 15 programs a few weeks ago. The 15 teams he included on his list are UCLA, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Washington, Ohio State, Arizona, Missouri, Texas Tech, Houston, Utah, West Virginia, Colorado, UCF and Illinois. This is still a long list but it seems like the Illini might make the next cut.
Illinois could use a player like Myers. He is a 6-foot-5, 330-pound offensive tackle from Bishop Dunne High School in Dallas, Texas. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 862 player in the class of 2018 and the No. 113 player in the state of Texas.
The Illini need offensive line help. They weren’t very good last season as multiple players struggled at different times. Illinois also had a few good offensive linemen graduate this past season as well. When 2018 rolls around, the Illini will also lose Jordan Fagan and Christian DiLauro. That means there could be some playing time available for Myers. That is a big boost in his recruitment and hopefully, will put the Illini over the edge.
