Illinois vs. Boise State

The Illini advanced to the second round of the NIT with a big win over the Valparaiso Crusaders. This was a nice win for interim head coach, Jamall Walker. The next game for the Illini was against the Boise State Broncos in Champaign.

Illinois came out in this game against the Broncos a little slow. They were down one point at half-time but then dominated in the second half. Watching this game was really fun because you could see a fire in this team. They didn’t want to go home and they showed that with a 71-56 stomping of Boise State.

Tracy Abrams led the Illini with 18 points on the night but Black was the superstar. He finished the game with 12 points and 10 rebounds. These were Black’s first two back-to-back double-doubles of the season.

Black was dominant on the boards again. He had four offensive rebounds and six defensive rebounds on the night. He wasn’t as efficient as games prior, but he still got the job done. He was 5-of-12 from the field and 1-of-2 from the three-point line.

The Illini played well as a team that night and it was all propelled by the dominance of Black. That was also the last game that group of seniors would play at the State Farm Center.
