Team 1: Malcolm Hill, Rayvonte Rice, Nnanna Egwu

The most recent potential team for a 3-on-3 tournament would be Malcolm Hill, Rayvonte Rice and Nnanna Egwu. These three would form a solid team that could do well against other teams in history.

Hill would bring the ball up for this team. Despite his 6-foot-6 size, Hill played most of his career as a point guard for the Illini. He was also a great scorer in the history of the program as well. He finished his career averaging 13.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. With the heart Hill brings to the table, his team would compete against some of the teams to follow.

This team would be able to score as well. They would have Hill who could get his own and then Rayvonte Rice who can shoot from anywhere on the court. We only saw two years of Rice in the Orange and Blue after he transferred in from Drake. He was an electric scorer, though. He averaged over 15 points per game in both seasons he was with the Illini. He finished his Illinois career averaging 16.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.

With such great scoring from Hill and Rice, this team would then need a big man. That is where Egwu would come into play. Egwu didn’t get proper development when he was with the Illini but he was still a fun player to watch. He isn’t much of a threat to score but he could get rebounds. His best season in Champaign he averaged 6.9 points and 6 rebounds per game.

This team would have troubles against some of the best 3-on-3 teams in the history of the Illinois basketball program. But, they would be fun to watch and to see if Hill or Rice could get hot and drop a load of points.
