No. 1 Guard

Starter: Te’Jon Lucas

The incumbent starting point guard for the Illinois basketball team is Te’Jon Lucas. He is going to be the starter heading into next season as well. Look for Lucas to shine bright as ever with an up-tempo style of offensive that is conducive to scoring and distributing.

Lucas does need to work on his shot a little, but the previous coaching regime played a slower offense where players couldn’t get into their rhythm. Expect him to score more points and get some buckets in transition as well.

Backup: Trent Frazier

One of the players from the class of 2017 to be excited about is Trent Frazier. This kid was a human highlight reel coming out of Wellington High School in Wellington, Florida. He was so spectacular he won the Class 9A Player of the Year in the state as well.

Frazier was projected to be a starting guard a few months ago but Illinois landed a few more guards since then. But, that doesn’t mean he won’t be a huge asset to this team. There isn’t a single program in the country that can boast the depth at guard like the Illini can. Frazier will be a huge asset to the Illini this season and someone who could help lead the team to the NCAA tournament.
