No. 3 Guard/Forward

Starter: Jalen Coleman-Lands

This spot is looking more like a guard will fill it by the day. Looking at what the Illini will start the season with next year, expect there to be a guard in this position the majority of the time.

Jalen Coleman-Lands has the purest shooting talent on the team. During his freshman campaign, he showed the world what he could do on the court averaging 10.3 points and shooting 42.2-percent from the three-point line per game.

But, last season, Coleman-Lands regressed slightly as the coaching staff crumbled around him. He couldn’t get in a groove and the offensive wasn’t conducive to success for a three-point shooter. Watch for Coleman-Lands to really blossom in Brad Underwood’s system.

Backup: Mark Alstork

The Illini are after a graduate transfer by the name of Mark Alstork. This kid is wanted because he brings an electric style of scoring to the team.

Alstork is a graduate transfer who would be immediately eligible to play in 2017. He would only take up a scholarship for 2017, so that is great for the Illini as well.

When Alstork was with Wright State he was dominating. He averaged 19 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. If Illinois can get that to backup Coleman-Lands at the No. 3 spot, then Illinois should be fine this upcoming season.
