DJ Stewart

The scholarship offers from Underwood do not have boundaries. He is going after players from all over the country and with his next offer he went for a player from the south.

DJ Stewart was extended an offer from Underwood. He is a skilled player from Riverside High School in Mississippi. He is also a wanted recruit as well.

Stewart has 12 scholarship offers and most of them are from lower level division I programs. The top schools after him besides for Illinois are Mississippi State and Alabama. Both are legit contenders for his commitment, but I think the Illini could have a shot.

The problem I am having right now is that Stewart isn’t ranked on the recruiting sites. He doesn’t have stars and he isn’t in the top whatever. But, he does have a decent amount of scholarships and his tapes are nice to watch.

Stewart brings a lot of energy to the game of basketball. He is a guy who could come off the bench and give the Illini a spark when they need it the most.

I think Stewart still has some work to do with his ball-handling and shooting, but he is still decent at both. His specialty is clearly being a high-riser who can get to the rim.

Underwood would be able to use Stewart as a substitution for the No. 3 spot. As of right now, I think he would be a good addition and I am curious to see if he is a late bloomer on the recruiting scene.
